Elderly Day at Wat Suan Dok ⭐ [Video]

This Saturday morning under a brilliant blue sky, Torsang volunteers met up to participate in Chiang Mai province's annual Elderly Day Event at Wat Suan Dok. Each year in a spirit of unity, groups gather together to hand out food and drinks as a way of expressing gratitude to the older community. Despite the early morning heat, we were eager to join in among the 2,000 people who attended.

The Elderly Day Event originally began in 1999 as a way to celebrate 726 years of Lanna culture, acknowledge the wisdom and value of the elderly, and remember to be good role models to young people and children.

Today's event was organized by the Thai Elderly Council Association branch under the Royal Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra BoromarajonaniIn in collaboration with the Chiang Mai Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office Ban Thampakorn Social Welfare Development Center, Chiang Mai Province, led by Mr. Thotsapon Puanudom, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai Province. Mr. Thotsapon Puanudom presided over the ceremony.

Excited to be part of this long standing tradition that honors the elderly, we were happy to give thanks with snacks, smiles, and cold drinks to everyone who came by. It was lovely to interact with the community in such a meaningful way.
